There are three main categories of flood risks that Houston resident should guarantee.
The first is flood damage caused by plumbing problems. Two of the main causes of this type of damage are leakage and rupture of water pipes, overflow of air-conditioning drain pan etc. Some homeowners' insurance contracts cover this kind of damage and other insurers suffer. We recommend checking your policies or asking your agency about your coverage. If your policy does not cover this you need to consider changing to a better policy.
The next type of flood damage is rain falling after the storm damage. This usually applies to homeowners policy. There are exceptions in poor areas where this coverage is excluded. Then, another storm policy is needed so that it will not rain.
The most destructive flood is due to the rise of water. Since Houston was frequently flooded in the past, I recommend you to make sure of this risk. Since the policy of the owner of the house is almost always causing water flooding, separate flood insurance is necessary. The cheapest way to get flood insurance is usually in the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP). FEMA reapproves this program and the federal government will pay for the covered loss. You can just get coverage of content, home and content. This insurance can also be used in business. Flood insurance for NFIP will be received at a rate regulated by private companies or agencies participating in the program.
The flood insurance rate of NFIP varies greatly depending on which flood zone you are in, how much coverage you need, and what you can deduct. The area with the least risk is in B zone or X zone. These areas are normally eligible for a deductible "priority" rate of $ 500.
Here are some examples of priority fee:
Content only:
$ 58 a year for $ 8,000
$ 20,000 per year, $ 113
$ 40,000 per year, $ 147
$ 221 per year $ 100,000
Home Plus contents:
$ 20,000 homes and $ 8,000 annual content of $ 8,000
