When a flood occurred, was the carpet clean in the past, was well maintained or dirty? Did the pet have a urine problem before the water was damaged? Is it a type that the carpet contracts when exposed to extra moisture? These are questions asking professional flood contractors to remove water damaged carpets or to dry back and restore when creating game plans.

If you find something useful it is possible for home owners to dry small areas of the carpet. You may want to try your own approach under the following circumstances. Leave the carpet loose and place the fan near wet carpet, padding, subfloor. You can borrow fans from a local tool rental shop or you may have enough axial fans to do that trick. Use either a small space heater or the house's central heater to keep the area warm. A more advanced way is to borrow a small dehumidifier from your local tool rental shop and place it close to the fan you used. I rotate the area's fans everyday. Since porous building materials are often "dry" before "actually drying", we recommend that you keep dry feeling on dryer for at least 2 days. It is best to keep the drying apparatus in a stable place for 4 to 5 days. This leaves dried carpet, pad and cement subfloor. At this point, you are ready to reinstall the carpet on the tuck strip.
