Important considerations for laminate floor thickness -2

In terms of toughness and durability, the laminate can compete with the most famous natural flooring products. Industry experts recommend laminate flooring for homeowners. Even though it is light weight, you can use high quality laminate for many years. Most consumers believe that the thickness is the primary determinant of the toughness and quality of laminated flooring. We reveal this problem based on what experts are thinking.

Is thickness a function of durability?

The thickness of the laminate is measured in millimeters. Measurement starts from the bottom under the floor and stops at the top. Experts on flooring materials do not believe that the durability of laminated products depends only on thickness. The meaning is that thicker products are not always stronger than much thinner laminated products.

Instead of thickness, consumers must consider the type of laminate. Is it HPL or DPL? There is a fundamental difference between the two. HPL stands for high pressure laminate consisting of at least 5 layers. On the other hand, DPL or direct pressure laminate has only 4 layers. HPL products are more robust than DPL products. The number of layers is not increasing. It is the manufacturing process and quality of the laminate core that makes the high pressure laminate product stronger than the direct pressure laminate product.

What are the advantages of thicker laminate?

There are several advantages that are thicker than thinner laminated flooring board thickness. First, thick laminates are less susceptible to deformation when exposed to water or excessive moisture, and their shape is difficult to change. Second, thicker laminates with good quality fiberboards can suppress the force that ends up over time, which may cause wearing and tearing of thinner products. If the material used has been proven to be of high quality, a 12 mm thick laminate is the best policy. If the quality of embossing is excellent you can get good value for money with a thick laminate board in your house.

Other indicators of laminate quality

The laminate product has an AC or Abrasion Class rating developed by a European producer on the laminate floor. Essentially, it is a measure of the durability of laminated flooring. It is gold standard currently used in industry all over the world. The AC rating evaluates very special parameters to determine if laminate flooring products are adequate. This evaluation will determine whether the laminate is applicable for residential or commercial use. This product is evaluated in terms of resistance to impact resistance, burns, liquid liquids, abrasions, moisture and contamination.

There are five possible evaluations. Laminate products rated at AC 1 are ideal for use in closets and bedrooms and the evaluation of AC 2 means that products are most often used in the dining room and the living room. The AC3 rating is given to products that can withstand harsh uses in both commercial and residential environments. At the same time, the AC4 laminate flooring product is ideal for heavier traffic. The highest rating is AC5, it is given to a sufficiently sturdy product in a heavy industrial environment.

Now that you got better information, please make wise movements when choosing a laminate product that best suits your needs.
